The Chinese Embassy in Japan on Friday issued a safety alert, urging Chinese citizens in Japan to remain highly vigilant and take extra precautions. In response to a recent rise in attacks involving Chinese nationals, the embassy has also demanded that the Japanese side take concrete steps to ensure the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens residing in or visiting the country.
According to media reports, at around 10 pm on July 30, a Chinese tourist was assaulted and injured in a neck-choking robbery on a street in Osaka Prefecture. The suspect has since been arrested. The Chinese Consulate-General in Osaka immediately contacted the injured Chinese national to express sympathy and urged the Japanese side to severely punish the perpetrator and take effective measures to prevent such incidents from recurring, according to the Chinese Embassy in Japan.
In light of a recent surge in attacks against Chinese nationals, the Chinese Embassy in Japan has lodged a stern representation with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demanding concrete actions to protect the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens in Japan, according to the embassy.
It once again reminds Chinese citizens and tourists in Japan to remain highly vigilant and take appropriate safety precautions.
Separately, two Chinese men suffered severe injuries after they were attacked on street by four men using iron pipes in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo of Japan, at around 9 am local time on Thursday, according to the report by Jiji Press.
Following the incident, the Chinese Embassy in Japan urged the Japanese side to take swift action to arrest the suspect and bring the perpetrators to justice, according to a release from the embassy on Thursday.
